NORTHEAST REUNION

The Northeast Reunion has come and gone (July 20-22) and for those who attended, what a blast it was!  We had great, great fun, and there is a summary of the events by Andrea Ewart, as well as several pictures taken over the weekend posted at the website for your viewing pleasure at (http://connect.to/sahsalumni).

A great big thank-you from all of us who attended to Andrea Ewart for her vision in making this event a reality.  Andrea spent lots of time (and money) on the phone calling people ALL OVER to try and coordinate a convenient date for everyone, and even spent many hours during the weekend of events calling to see who would be attending.

Thanks also to Ingrid Smith for selecting the venues for the weekend - the Lincoln Center Midsummer Night Swing outdoor concert, and brunch at Negril on Sunday.

Thanks to Carolyn Henry for creating the feature spot on the website where Andrea's summary of the events and the pictures are now posted.

Finally, thanks to all the ladies (in alpha order):  Faith Davis, Andrea Ewart, Rose Harris, Carolyn Henry, Kathryn Riley, Paula Sangster, Angela Smith, Ingrid Smith, and Beverley Walker) who showed up and made it such fun!

SPOTLIGHT ON.

Congratulations to Annette Chin's daughter, Sheri Atkinson who placed second in the Health Occupation Student of America (HOSA) Competition.  Sheri competed in the Human Health and Development Knowledge Test earlier this year.  She then went on to compete in the State finals in the HOSA competition in Orlando among high school students and adults. She is in the 10th grade at Coral Reef Senior High School in the Leisure Medicine Academy program (Miami, FL). Sheri's dream is to become a pediatrician.  We hope to have some pictures of Sheri posted at the site soon.  You go, Sheri!

KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS

©Leah Weller, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.   Leah is now at the Eccleston hospital in Atlanta and has responded well to tests and treatments.  It appears that the disease may have been detected early and so the prognosis is good.  Please continue to keep the Wellers in your prayers.

©Taneisha Christie - Andrea Ewart has been keeping us posted on Taneisha's progress, and says that her operation (8/24) was successful. Doctors now need to determine whether additional treatment (chemo or radiation) is needed for Taneisha.  Continue to pray for the Christies.

DECEMBER REUNION IN JAMAICA

The next MAJOR EVENT is the Reunion planned for Kingston, Jamaica the weekend of December 14.  YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS ONE, LADIES.  It promises to be much fun!  The Planning Committee in Jamaica, comprised of Valerie Bell, Michele Carey, Heather Gail Lewars, Karlene McDonnough, Lesley Robotham, Ruth Weller, Dorett Williams, & Maxine Williams, are putting a great deal of effort into making this event a success.  Our attendance will certainly help make this a reality.  Don't disappoint the ladies on the Planning Committee, and don't miss out on seeing your old buddies.  You'll be surprised at how the years just roll away when we get together to reminisce.  It sure did when we were in New York in July, and I know it will be the same in December.  LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYBODY THEN!  So mark your calendars for the weekend of December 14-16, 2001 and be there or be square!

As we get more detailed information from the committee regarding what the specific events will be for the weekend, Carolyn will post them at the website for your information.

(You can also see a recent picture of the committee members at the website)
